Self Hypnosis Techniques


A self hypnosis session requires a strong suggestion, proper relaxation and delivering the statement repeatedly. Self hypnosis techniques are focused on incorporating healthy habits and balancing the inner self in real life.

When we talk about hypnosis, the first thing that comes to our mind is a hypnotist chanting with a pocket watch in front of a subject. Most people misunderstood hypnosis as an unconscious state. However, researches opined that a hypnotized person is completely conscious, but he/she is in a concentrated state of mind. If hypnosis is used for any medical purposes, then it is referred to as hypnotherapy. Hypnotherapy is most commonly followed for managing chronic pain condition.

In majority of the cases, hypnosis is induced by a qualified hypnotist who delivers suggestions and tips based on a particular goal that the person wants to achieve in real life. Let’s take an instance of a student who is preparing for a particular exam. In such a case, the hypnotist gives a motivation lecture about the positive outcomes after clearing the exam. The student thus visualizes the importance of passing the exam, after which he will study hard for getting the same result. Hypnosis can also be achieved by the person himself, which is known as self hypnosis. Let’s discuss in brief about the various self hypnosis techniques.

Techniques for Self Hypnosis

Nearly all people can attain a self hypnotized state, except some considerations such as people with a low concentration potential or a low IQ and those who have thought disorder. Self hypnosis is also difficult for people who do not want to get hypnotized. Once an individual goes into a self hypnotized state, he/she concentrates, feels relaxed and starts expecting. Following are some of the self hypnosis techniques that can be implemented while undergoing self hypnosis:

Decide a Strong Statement: This statement will be the purpose of your self hypnosis. You can plan a list of positive thoughts or healthy habits. To mention a few, some people follow self hypnosis techniques for weight loss to achieve a perfect body shape in real life. Likewise, create the backgrounds beforehand for self hypnosis. Ensure that you do not include negative statements while performing self hypnosis techniques. For example; I want to quit smoking but what if I fail?

Locate a Quiet Place: Search for a quiet and comfortable place, where you can relax properly. Ensure that nobody disturbs you in between the self hypnosis session, otherwise, you may not be able to achieve the goal for which you are hypnotizing. If you are using a room, rather than an open place, you can bolt the door from the inside and switch off the phone (if it is there) prior to starting self hypnosis technique.

Relax Completely and Use Suggestions: Relaxation of your mind and body is the key to a successful self hypnosis technique. Follow deep breathing exercises for complete rest. After proper relaxation, you can start telling the suggestion repeatedly, which you have planned from before. With each self hypnosis session, you can use a specific suggestion or a positive thought. Hence by performing regular self hypnosis techniques, you can fulfill all the desired habits in reality. Incorporate weight loss hypnosis in your session and see how quickly you can achieve your objective. This way, you can balance your inner self by self hypnosis techniques for healthy living.

Studies have indicated that hypnosis and self hypnosis, if performed properly, are safe and effective methods for accelerating human behavioral changes. In recent times, self hypnosis is becoming very popular, especially for incorporating healthy lifestyle habits such as losing weight, smoking cessation and managing stress. There are several schools that provide short term courses for hypnotherapy training. You can also browse the Internet and get a glimpse about the various free self hypnosis techniques. Nevertheless, ensure that you analyze the self hypnosis techniques first, before implementing them.
